The same can be true for AI companies.

Making students reliant on LLM tools to think and write makes them a customer for life.

I just created a series of seven deep-dive videos about AI, which I've posted to youtube and now here. 😊

Targeted to laypeople, they explore how LLMs work, what they can do, and what impacts they have on learning, well-being, disinformation, the workplace, the economy, and the environment.

Are you worried about AI and your child's mental health?

Worried they might develop an unhealthy relationship with a chatbot, as Copilot gets deployed into classrooms?

Don't worry, Microsoft has the solution!

Step 1. Sell the problem:
GenAI tools that students use write essays for them.

Step 2. Sell the solution to the problem:
AI-based tools that guess if an essay is human-made.

Step 3. Sell the solution to the solution to the problem:

There are so many gems in this article.

"When I contacted OpenAI’s support, the first responses came from an AI agent."

"However, my case reveals a fundamental weakness: these tools were not developed with academic standards of reliability and accountability in mind."

57% of parents think using AI in the classroom will help their children prepare for a future in the workforce.

AI companies marketing this de-skilling tech as good and inevitable has been very effective.

We need to do a better job of reaching parents and showing the truth.

OpenAI announced that they are targeting education systems in countries.

Their first victims are Estonia, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Trinidad & Tobago, and the United Arab Emirates.

We must stay involved and make sure Canada is not next.

I found this article about writing instructors creating chatbots for their courses interesting. They report, of course, mixed results. But I think the idea that since students are using chatbots anyway, we might as well create useful ones is flawed. /1 www.nytimes.com/2026/01/17/n...
