The most nostalgic part of my Jak II playthrough is reading through a GameFaqs post from 2003 about a soft lock that I managed to get myself into. The two fixes are
(1) Restart the game
(2) Mail your PS2 memory card to Sony and they'll edit the save data
Do you think option 2 still works?

I was really unsure about getting a Playstation Portal but I can now confidently say it's the best way to play the Jak trilogy on a handheld with trophy support.
I know that's not really high praise considering the only alternative is the 10fps vita port that I suffered through but still

Looking back, difficulty spikes were actually one of my favorite things in games as a kid. Aside from making games last longer, I would sometimes have to go to a friend's for help beating it. I found the memory card slot in PS2 game cases to actually be useful.

I think one of the underrated effects of the Steam Machine and Deck is that it provides a good benchmark for developers to target.
There's a concrete line for devs to target for performance. It'll make it harder for AAA companies to release unoptimized games and blame consumers for bad performance

I like to complain about the death of the internet because of all the AI generated garbage clogging sites, but then I see something genuinely awesome like this and think that maybe it isn't so bad after all.

My theory: during Starfield's dev Bethesda ran into enough issues with Creation Engine 2 that they decided to switch over to UE5 for ES6.
Oblivion Remastered began dev in 2021 and was a litmus test for the new engine.
ES6 began dev in 2023, after 2 years of testing the viability of UE5 with OBR
