This is my kind of good trouble.
In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

I read this article based on a comment about it having brought tears (about death metal). What I found was an amazing story of music, community, snd survival.

As an alum, this makes me so sad. Disappointing…
Cornell agreed to pay $30m, hand over admissions data with demographic breakdowns, produce annual "campus climate" surveys to check on antisemitism and changes "since October of 2023," and—here's the dumbest part they agreed to—that the govt can open new investigations whenever it wants.

Appeasers.
Cornell has reached an agreement with the federal government to restore our funding:

The humor, the clarity, the razor-sharp assessment by Obama that it’s all a distraction from their ongoing efforts to make life worse for everyday Americans. More please, President Obama.

Between JD‘s No Kings tweet and Trump posting a video of himself dumping a payload of s*^t on America protesters, you can see why “young” Republicans talk the way they do…

What I don’t understand is how anyone finds it acceptable.

Legacy media could learn a few things from Purdue.
🔥 When Indiana silenced its student press, Purdue broke the silence. Rivalry became rebellion as students printed the forbidden paper and carried it through the night to Bloomington. This is what freedom looks like when courage refuses permission.

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

The University of Texas-Austin is beginning a process to eliminate the Black Studies, Latino Studies, and Gender Studies departments in the College of Liberal Arts. This is a grave threat to the educational liberty of students, faculty, staff, and the people of Texas. 1/

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

We watched the Lilith Fair documentary tonight. It was great… such fond memories.

It was also infuriating, we have learned so little in the last 25 years.

Reading "On Tyranny" several years ago was a fast, very sobering read. It is a good read, but terrifying as it very clearly lays out what we are seeing occur in the US.
Here is my best guidance, rendered beautifully by the great John Lithgow. I first published these lessons nearly nine years ago, in late 2016. They open the twenty chapters of "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century."
