Thank you for writing this and getting it out there. And I hope you can pull together your planned part 2 report, extending this contemporary history up to the present

My revised and expanded entry on the Ethics of Cultural Heritage is now live in the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy! Appropriation, repatriation, monuments, and more, as well as a new section on the nascent aesthetic injustice literature. #philsky

There isn't a news story on #SQA site about the withdrawal of the #NVQ in #Archaeological Practice; checking the #waybackmachine, it was still showing as being available on 14/02/2025, but by 22/06/2025 it had been withdrawn

#magnifiers and #diminishers
magnified leader will step back and let the team talk

encouraging others to take on leadership training and coaching has very impressive results

this has been the best conference session I have been in for years

#Business #Leadership

even #MichaelJordan had a coach

be intentional, be curious, be vulnerable, be empathetic

people will then reach out and are personal in their connection

Piscitelli's how to become a thought leader
1. identify your niche
2. develop a content plan
3. engage with your audience
4. monitor and adjust

share your knowledge, share your passion

#MattPiscitelli - #thought leadership
1/2

thought leaders possess a distinctively original idea, unique point of view, or an unprecedented insight into their industry

very easy to be a self-declared #thoughtleader - and by doing so, you lack credibility

3/3

#sergeants = #CrewChiefs are needed - to control and lead small teams

#fieldtechs should know what success looks like

effective leaders make everyone working for them want to do a better job
aitchis1.bsky.social
2/3
your peers are the hardest to lead, exacerbated by proximity

uses #BelowDeck tv show as training material - showing effects of corrosive unprofessional behaviour

are you teaching junior leaders to lead or to progress

Stepping up: #leadership in #crm

#StephenHumphreys - field leadership
1/3

#Archaeology has selected field leaders because of technical competence - not because of leadership skills

#AVAR promotion based on compassion, composure and competence - and compassion can't be taught
aitchis1.bsky.social
suggestion from the audience - attend party fundraisers (often reasonably priced) - when you are on the donor list, it becomes much easier to get meetings with politicians

Grassroots #Advocacy at the State Level

#AndrewGoldberg bringing policymakers to communities (ideally in their constituency) is much more effective than arranging a (short, chaotic?) meeting at that politician's office

connect with staff, they can then lead you to the elected member

4/4 and the #SCOTUS overturning of the #Chevron deference is not actually driving a great deal of the changes; regulations set by agencies beyond letter of law is not actually the cause of all of current problems, the loss of staff from many agencies and slowing of processes is much more the issue

3/4 #BigBeautifulBill reflects shifting priorities of the administration, and it will actually support some #CRM opportunities. Money is going to #defense (aka defence), #IT. #ProfessionalServices
Lots of #m&a happening to enable pitching for different work at different agencies

2/4 # DOGE looks for #DEI trigger words - prior administration had used particular language that DOGE has been keen to change. Firms over 50 staff formerly had to have affirmative action programs. Vets and disability still there, but ethnicity and gender not
