Yup two lives tragically wasted for nothing

Perhaps! What makes all these discussions weird is the context in which it’s happening - after the tragic murder of a person and the tragedy of the killer who once had a seemingly promising life. It’s a whiplash.
I wonder if this discussion would have happened without such a tragic event

As Jane Ballantyne pointed out- we’ve changed diagnostic terms frequently, DSM-5 OUD being the classic case. It’s not something written in stone. There’s nothing stopping us from changing mild OUD diagnostic term in future

Most have mild OUD, but the problems such patients present with are not mild. More than a third has disability involving ADLs. That’s not a mild condition.

Pain guys are in perpetual confusion with chicken and egg question with mental health. Most think mental illness is the egg laid by the pain chicken, but what if mental illness in the chicken and pain is the egg?!!!
