Joe Biden saw himself as an FDR- or LBJ-type figure, but his failed politics and self-serving reelection campaign ultimately led to the unraveling of their accomplishments. What a tragic figure. History will not remember him well.
“They’ve finally put the nail in the coffin of the Great Society,” said one HUD staffer who, like others interviewed for this story, spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution. “They finally figured out how to do what not even Reagan could.” 💯 www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

We shouldn't allow Donald Trump's nonsense to turn into a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy -- compared to other countries, the United States remains an open, liberal, and welcoming place.
This is one of those areas that should intersect with rejoining the Single Market (and then EU). UK would benefit from an infusion of workers familiar with the world's best home-building standards -- people who've built in Germany and the Netherlands.
-Expanded social welfare policies alongside dynamic labor laws (flexicurity) -Universal health care -Transformational housing policies (addressing both supply and demand) -Firm-but-fair immigration and policing policies (including asylum reform)
"Everyone understands that there are massive and growing levels of income and wealth inequality. Everybody understands the healthcare system is absolutely broken. People understand the housing situation is broken."

Trump IMV remains a strategic disasterzone, even if with Syria and maybe Gaza a specific confluence of circumstances means he might push towards better outcomes.
But let's not pretend that Bush, Obama and Biden didn't make a contribution to the disastrous condition the global order is now in.
It’s perplexing how a country whose politics since 2008 has been shaped by the Iraq War is so easily falling for “if you don’t support a war in Venezuela then you’re defending Maduro” and “we have evidence he’s a cartel boss, just trust us”
"Harris, from both a politics and policy standpoint, has never been a true leader of the party, and her presence now is a reminder of how badly Joe Biden’s team erred in 2020 when they picked her for the ticket." nymag.com/intelligence...
