Pro-tip: Always wear safety glasses when standing on top of a ladder trying to drill a hole in sheet metal because you never know when the drill bit your using will explode and fly in a random direction

Initial impression: This is a really fucking nice impact driver

🔥 take: Safety regulations are generally written in blood and fire, but also portions of the National Electrical Code (NEC) are a capitalist racket that makes people pay more than they need to for no real benefit

this is one of my favourite observations about sample size calculations. (afaik first articulated by Miettinen in 1985)

Forst time watching something on it, and now I'm sure I nailed the height of the TV in the Master bedroom perfectly. All I have left to do is mount the soundbar's rear speakers on each side of the bed.

It turned out super clean looking. I just need to put the TV stand back under it this morning and mount the power strip to the wall.

I have chosen my team in the power tool wars I guess

This thing is amazing. The wall in my music room has insanely thick insulation, so running cords through the wall is a bitch, but I was able to pull the fish tape through the wall in about 60 seconds with this magnet. 10/10 would recommend (it's also a superb stud finder)

Pretty sure I've peaked. I will never cut a cleaner hole than this

🧵 I wanted to study computer science, but the CS department at the university I did my undergrad at was part of the Department of Mathematics so they basically forced you into double majoring in mathematics and I had spent most of my life up until that point terrified of math 1/n

Homeownership is having to run to Home Depot at 8AM on a Sunday morning so you can finish the project you started on Saturday but then found out you didn't have all the parts you needed to actually complete

Once again,

▪︎ Women's rights are human rights

▪︎ Transgender rights are human rights

▪︎ The rights of racial and ethnic minorities are human rights

People who don't agree with the above are an enemy that must be defeated for the sake of human progress

Meta (formerly Facebook) had to rebrand because they literally caused a genocide in Burma, so yeah big tech has been doing evil shit (even if unintentionally) for a while...
it is absolutely the tech companies fault that people now assume they’re doing something evil and sneaky even when they actually aren’t (regarding the latest Google kerfuffle)

like, no kidding that people have zero willingness to cut big tech the benefit of the doubt anymore

One TV successfully* mounted 🎊

*Still need to figure out plate covers for the wall because the ones I got don't fit this damn bracket and also need a longer optical cable because the 8' one was too short

Got everything moved 🎊. Now to spend the rest of the day knocking holes in walls to route cables and mounting TVs
Moving all the remaining furniture from the townhome down to the house today, so we'll finally be moved in officially (we've been living there for a month, but I'll finally have my desk and no longer have to work from the couch 🎊).

Proposition: When Democrats run on something other than "at least we're not Republicans," they tend to perform quite a bit better electorally
