Just cancelled GitHub copilot subscription. I was almost evangelical about it 18 months ago, now it already feels much less useful than the competition.

Profit is what you have left after you subtract your costs from your revenue. If your business model requires you to spend more than you make forever, then at some point, people are going to notice. Not looking at anyone in particular, cough cough.

An equity investment is a bet on the future profitability of a company, not a bet on the impact that a product or idea could have. A bubble happens when the size of bet people are willing to place is not justified by expected future profits.

I agree with the prediction and that it's happening, scary stuff. I've struggled to find good analysis or sources of data on this though, have you seen anything that makes the trend clear?

It's less curious when you see the size and complexity of business critical excel files in the wild. As someone who as had to replatform such, ipynb for its faults is waaay preferable + maintainable

did anyone notice any issues with their blaze email newsletter this week? seeing a higher rate of bounces and reports from the sending service that usual. I'm thinking of changing the sending service as I'm not sure the AWS service is great. #rstats

@cloudflare.social @cloudflare-dev.bsky.social could you do something about RSS feeds that your blog users have you host / manage, so that they don't get put behind a captcha or bot detector? there's not much point in RSS if it can't be accessed programatically. I'm seeing this a lot more lately.

woohoo - quarto team added RSS feeds to be on by default going forward - brilliant work! I think a lot of people had unwittingly created their blogs and not realised that RSS was off by default.

I don't see any positive applications of Sora 2, and the direction of creating a social network powered by it seems to confirm the intent here. The engineering is incredible, but we're opening pandoras box here without any obvious upside.
