Hi Jim, long time viewer, first time caller. Speaking of call... what does "Call time" mean? Do I need a phone?

Finally, an Ability word I can identify with.
Michelangelo, the Heart from the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Magic the Gathering set. Art by Néstor Ossandón Leal.

I really hope this new Strixhaven book sells like crazy.

Giving the folks in the boardrooms ammunition to say that Magic Stories are not only important but also move the needle.

If you're not stoned out of your gourd, are you even appreciating Redline?

I should warn everyone now.

They're almost certainly gonna show you a Ninja Turtle on a Magic Card tomorrow.

This will not erase the Avatar set nor the Lorwyn set.

I know some of y'all get confused about that. Don't worry.

The advice they give makes a lot of sense for playing with people you don't trust, in environments where you can't easily find a new table, where you also want to win, but not with cEDH. But that speaks to the unsuitable nature of "paired pods" more than anything else imo.

Casual EDH is already a compromise away from the best and most efficient decks. Choosing to give yourself engines that basically always work is something I've found makes those games better than doubling my removal counts.

Another really good lesson to learn from 60 card magic is the difference between playing to win, and playing to not lose.

If you're taking out consistency and adding removal, you may lose less, but odds are you just help someone else win in commander.

Advancing your own plan is usually superior.

One of the best skills to learn from 60 card or other 1v1 comp formats is what you need to solve a boardstate and whether you can get it from your deck.

Too often, I see folks "looking for their outs" but they can't explain what that would be in that situation.

Who is your favorite dimir or Blue/Black+ commander in the last few years?

If you've got a Moxfield list to link, I'd read that too, friends.

Kess, you can't just pay attention and contextualize decisions. How are you gonna dehumanize the people who have different opinions than you doing that?

They say "Never meet your heroes."

I say "Never pause the video feed and laugh at how you look."
Me looking stupid

Y'all wanna maybe put these folks in a starter pack so folks can just follow all of them?

I actually think Maldhound does a great job in nuanced short video. It's just really really tough to do and keyjangle at the same time. Way easier to take the doomer path and make everything the end of the world.

It does stink that the growing illiteracy issue is hitting articles so hard.

Even on this very post, I am sure I'll write a draft reply and go, "No, this will fix nothing and only get this person angry/sad."

Burning the grumpy letter is a surprisingly effective anger management technique for me.

I'll do my best to do some unhinged hating later in the weekend.

This isn't to say you can't do it. Self-deprecating humor or humor against the clownishly evil works fine, but 'guy who enjoys things i don't enjoy' is not evil. Attacking Wizards, or worse, the individual laborers, isn't hitting Capitalism.

I've said it before, if you're going for "mean but in a funny way" you're always going to get more people that are in it for the mean, than in it for the funny.
