Living in the Portland area, I have had zero, ZERO, people reaching out to me to see if we're war ravaged, compared to other times when I lived in "turbulent" areas.

And I do think it's because of the dancing frogs.

Too many of you do not understand the concept of infrastructure. How systems are built, how systems are maintained.

You want big bold action but haven't committed to the planning and the boring mundane tasks needed to make said action possible.

I think this might be the ONLY thing you and I disagree on, politically. I think it's entirely understandable (almost REASONABLE) how discomfort-averse people are. Avoiding discomfort is a protective response — and a powerful one that can be easily hijacked by robber barons.

Portland has been about 10x busier than usual with helicopters (and F-16s). I can only imagine what Chicago is going through right now.

It's a small thing amid all the other things, but I can report that we've been listening to helicopters overhead ALL. MORNING.

Chicago does not normally get this amount of helicopter traffic. Like, usually when a helicopter flies overhead, kids point and yell, "Helicopter!"

It's been nonstop.

Fascism relies on a massive bloc of nihilistic supporters only interested in their own comfort to garner popular support. It has no other appeal to the masses.

The "Portland plywood windows" angle is a psy-op. Yes, there are still vacant storefronts, post-pandemic. But that's because Portland prioritizes local businesses.

The only reason other cities "recovered" faster is because big box monopoly took over.
