Once she discovered that words could build worlds or mend hearts, she never looked back. In the middle of the night, with only her shadow for company, she wrote letters to the future, to strangers, to herself, always by hand. This is what I am: a writer, she ruminated.

“Pat retired last year. Villa in the Algarve. Breakfast while listening to the waves. Very comfortable. Suspiciously comfortable for a civil servant,” Ed stated.
