The Indians invented the concept of “zero” which was transported to the Arabs. They further refined algorithmic thinking, which was transferred to Spain, then further afield where Descartes, Leibniz , and Newton shaped the field of mathematics further… and on and on.

It’s well established that innovation is spurred by cross-cultural pollinisation. This has been even true since the ancient times when the Ancient Greeks (who were huge cultural chauvinists) acknowledged that the philosopher Thales must’ve drawn on the knowledge of the Greeks & the Babylonians.
