Aaaaaaand in first place is The Power Fantasy by Gillen and Wijngaard!

My fav ongoing rn. I said Absolute Batman is at the top of my pile whenever it comes out but this is the only series that would take priority over it. Soooo interesting and exciting, with amazing art to boot!

2nd fav is Absolute Batman by Snyder and Dragotta.

I've written here about it plenty so look to that for more thoughts. But it's just such a lovely and novel take on the character. Also the art team is constantly a treat. It's always at the top of my pile whenever a new issue comes out.

3rd fav from this years feels like cheating since it mostly came out last year but it's Tynion and Hixson's The Deviant!

Just a lovely queer thriller that connected with me on a deep level. Such an interesting mix of themes and subject matters. Can't recommend it highly enough!

In 4th place is Camp and Rodriguez's Absolute Martian Manhunter!

Second Camp book on this list, quite a talent that guy huh? Rodriguez is a generational talent who is turning in some career best work in this series. A real triumph in terms of DC having such confidence in this team.

Next up in 5th place is Captain America by Zdarsky and Schiti!

I have a lot of hesitation about Cap as a character but this series rocks. Amazing art team (shout out to colorist Frank Martin) and a super compelling take on the character. Every issue feels like a treat so far.

Sixth place for this year's releases, Assorted Crisis Events by Camp and Zwadzki!!!

I'm actually really behind on this series and #3 was kind of a dud for me but #2 was one of the most viscerally upsetting comics I've read ever? It made me actually nauseous and I loved it.
