If an agency says 'if you do not hear from us within 6-8 weeks, we have unfortunately decided that the project is not a good match' but it's still open on Query Tracker at 12 wks, do I withdraw on QT? I thought they would close it?

Still struggling with using the em dash in Word. I watched videos on it and I'm still hit and miss. Using it as a frequent symbol just takes too much time. Anyone use these in their MG's? I think I'll give up on it :(

I did follow guidelines. It didn't mention word count but the industry says over 20k for 7-9 yr olds. I've checked and rechecked. Maybe they only take Upper MG and didn't specify (sigh) Thanks for the link, will take a look :)

Maybe, but it wasn't the agent herself who emailed so I doubt she saw it. I think likely a reader or admin as the name's not on the website. I shall keep going. Fastest rejection ever though!

Yes QM. I wonder if the drop down category filtered me out. I had LOWER MG on letter with age targeted, but drop down only offered MG. If standard MG is over 30k that might explain it!
The agent's website said looking for A, YA, MG, Children's & picture books. I was a fit with her wishlist.

Just started querying a 26,000 word Lower MG novel (7-10). First query turned down within an hour (nicely) saying they don't do novellas. Really confused - Google says the word count is fine. Anyone out there write #MG ? #Writingcommunity #Writers #Amquerying #writerslife

Hoping this will be a series, but yes, there is that :) But would a US agent want to rep a book with a British setting or doesn't it matter as they sell globally? I've done my first small batch to UK agents but they are always slow to respond. I'm impatient for my first rejection ha ha
