We’ve launched the UK’s 1st men’s health strategy 🚀

Having campaigned on this for some time, it’s great to see:

✅ Work with the Premier League to support men’s mental health
✅ Investment in prostate cancer research
✅ Funding vital suicide prevention work

And lots more!
🚧 Getting development right with Tempsford 🚧

This week I pushed ministers to ensure that if Tempsford New Town does come forward, we make the most of this opportunity to deliver meaningful improvements for the wider region.

❄️ Freezing train ticket prices ❄️

For the first time in over 30 years, the Government is freezing train ticket prices for next year.

This move will save local commuters up to hundred of pounds a year ✅

Where better to take @duncanrobinson.bsky.social to chat about the challenges facing men and boys across the country than to lift weights at Vibes?

While we shouldn’t give into the moral panic, nor should we ignore the specific issues facing too many men and boys in Britain today.

When it comes to reaching disengaged young men, relationships are *everything*.

But too often policy can miss this simple truth.

It’s been inspiring seeing Football Beyond Borders show the power a #TrustedAdultGuarantee could have.

I’ve written about why we need to make it a reality👇

Plenty for progressives to reflect on in this important
@moreincommonuk.bsky.social report into disillusioned men.

For too long we’ve been too ambivalent about the growing detachment of many men from mainstream politics.

It’s time to put that right, and it starts with listening to them👇

Pushing for solar on car parks and rooftops ☀

Earlier this year I campaigned successfully for new homes to come with solar panels as standard.

I want us to go further to ensure we maximise the clean, cheap energy we can produce at home.

Car parks and warehouses should be next on the agenda.

V interesting from @moreincommonuk.bsky.social with @alistrathern.bsky.social on middle aged male disillusionment and how it's shaping politics www.moreincommon.org.uk/our-work/res... (I wrote a column a couple of weeks ago about what's eating Gen X, and a lot of this resonates)
Out of reach? Men, masculinity and mainstream politics
New research lays bare the breadth of disillusionment across the British public, and identifies a key group of men who are increasingly disillusioned. This research, drawing on polling of 3,000 Brito...

In Case You Missed It:

✅ The morning after pill is now available for FREE the biggest change in sexual health since the 60s!

✅ Labour is including the menopause in the 40+ health check for women for the very first time

🚺 But there’s more to do…

Grey skies weren’t going to stop us getting out on the doorstep in Hitchin today! ☁️

Thank you to everyone who took the time to chat to us 💬

How can we keep young people and children safe online? 💬

We know the digital world offers incredible benefits for young people, but it’s clear we’ve often fail to fully appreciate the harms and risks it can bring too.

👏 This was incredibly spotlighted in the debate I attended at Hitchin Boys.

Today, we pause to remember all those who have died in service of our country, and expresses gratitude to the brave personnel who continue to serve.

We must never forget the sacrifice and service of all those who defend our country and fought for our freedom.

A moving remembrance service in Stotfold this afternoon.

Thank you to everyone involved in organising such a fitting tribute.

We owe a huge debt to those who sacrificed so much in service of our country. I’m proud to represent a community committed to ensuring we remember them.

A privilege to join a moving Remembrance Sunday service in Shefford this morning.

Thank you to everyone who did the town proud with such a fitting event.

We owe so much to all those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf.

We must remember them.

Good to get out and chat to people in Great Ashby today 💬

Plenty covered including:

🚌 What Labour’s new bus powers for Herts could mean for Great Ashby
🚧 Issues with local roads and parking
🏥Investing in Lister Hospital

Lovely to join Royal British Legion Hitchin Branch’s poppy appeal fundraising this morning.

The poppy appeal is a crucial fundraiser for such an important cause, so please do dig deep when you see them out and about!

In an age of deep fakes, toxic influencers and algorithmic influence, teaching young people how to think critically about what encounter online isn’t just a nice to have.

I set out in @labourlist.bsky.social why the curriculum’s new focus on media literacy matters 👉

Being our MP is about getting things done for our community ✅

As well as working on your priorities locally and in Westminster, an important part of my job is having your back on individual issues and challenges.

Here’s some of what we were able to help with over October 👇

Thank you to Hollie and Aurora for taking the time to share their challenges accessing appropriate SEND provision.

Heartbreakingly young people with some of the greatest needs can often face the greatest barriers accessing early years support.

I’m determined we put that right.

Great to see the postbox toppers back in Market Square for spooky season 🎃👻

They’re raising funds for Hitchin Choices, a special needs youth club that enables young people to enjoy activities that they can all too often be excluded from.

Well done to everyone involved 👏

📢 £150 off bills this Winter for 1000s of households locally💡

As we invest in clean energy to drive prices down over the longer term, it’s vital we do more to help with the cost of bills today.

The UK faces a nature crisis. So much of what makes our country so special is at risk.

But there are huge opportunities to harness investment in natural renewal.

Great to join @lcefuk.bsky.social to speak to environmentalists and investors about how we can most of them

It was great to see Strathmore School’s nursery included in Labour’s programme to invest in expanded nursery provision at local schools.

This is helping Strathmore expand its offer to families, helping children get the very best start in life, and they have spaces available now! 🌱👶

Progressives are not effectively speaking to the challenges and aspirations of many young men in Britain.

With figures across the far right queuing up to take advantage, I’ve written for @newstatesman1913.bsky.social about why we need to fix that, fast 👇
