"but the rule is you can't have TWELVE men on the field, right??"

there is a possible universe where mariners playoffs overlap the start of kraken season, then kraken playoffs overlap the start of mariners' season. forever.

That Kraken game would've stressed me out a lot more, but after all these high-stakes Mariners games I rode it out like a champ. Amazing finish.

The availability of Mariners pitchers will be a huge part of the story for the ALCS, obviously. If they can get Woo to start game 1 or 2 that's huge. He could pitch two starts before game 7. If Miller pitches the other, that gives whomever starts game 3 five days' rest from last night.

The next guy up in the bullpen will probably not be that good. Now is the time.
allistonsteve.bsky.social
so maybe you walk the guy with an open base just isn't an option?

Skubal is dealing. M's need to pitch their butts off.

Just two bros pooh-bearing it at the park

Looks like they've already set Friday's ALDS finale to 5pm PDT since there won't be a Yanks/Jays game in the primetime slot.

Completely unexpected collapse of the bullpen. Especially Speier. But it's also not good that the Detroit 'pen shut down the Mariners 100% at the same time.

On to Friday. I've been at every Mariners home playoff series clincher, and I'll be there!

Looked great in the third. In this kind of game, going three scoreless is very nice. Anything else is icing on the cake.

Some scary contact in that inning, but Miller escapes. Miller is catching a lot of the plate.

That inning by Miller was really encouraging. Velo is up, no hard contact, no full counts.

By comparison Casey Mize was 2-1 with a 3.49 ERA and 3.14 FIP.

On the other hand the Mariners bats were the best in the league by wRC+. Detroit's offence was below average. We might need those bats to stay hot!

Today's ALDS game is where the M's will most feel Woo's absence. Bryce Miller in September (minus the meaningless Dodgers start): 0-0 w/ a 4.98 ERA and 4.20 FIP.

Woo was 3-0 w/a 2.86 ERA & 2.68 FIP.

Miller's September competition wasn't particularly good: COL, @KCR, LAA, @ATL. Fingers crossed.

it's like it's his first time

what, no roof? how do we have a convertible and detroit doesn't?
allistonsteve.bsky.social
weather in detroit for tomorrow's game 3 is concerning!
Weather report for Detroit, MI for Tuesday showing "Variable cloudiness with a couple of showers and a thunderstorm, mainly early in the day; roads can be slippery due to rain" with a scary picture of lightning and a 66% chance of rain.

Skubal vs. the M's this year had a 5.91 ERA and a 4.82 FIP in two starts, both of which the Mariners won with Skubal taking the loss.

We have to beat the Tigers with one Woo tied behind our backs. The Mariners performed very well vs. Tarik Skubal this year, so let's hope that carries over into the playoffs.
