rindel lamplight
a girl in a long high collar indigo blazer with pink accents. two long ribbons curl around the back of her legs in a cross. underneath it, she wears a simple white skirt and shirt, the upper half of which has indigo accents. a pink tie flies messily around her neck. she mid-back length pink hair, messily brushed to the side. a large white bow sits at the back of her head. her left hand is in her pocket, and her right is casting a pink and indigo sigil, that of the light morai, dispelling the darkness around her. this is rindy! first character i've drawn that isn't in the west side of the world. she's a Morai - basically a mage species - and a high profile one, much to her displeasure. morai are split into eight subclasses, in order of social standing: blaze, light, spark, wind, frost, rain, quake, and root. every two classes complement each other and are tied together through cultural norms. as opposed to the western ruhrir's destruction motif, the morai magic system is based around the conservation of energy. the "lower" morai are seen as "producers" of energy, funneling abundant resources like sunlight, sand, water, and temperature into stuff the "higher" morai can use like wax for burning, steel for construction, and electricity and ice for luxury. the higher up the class ladder, the more "destructive" the classes are seen socially, and have *much* more explosive magic to suppress the lower classes at the cost of burning resources. as the oldest child of the empress, a blaze caster, rindy is seen as a disappointment. light, as a companion to blaze, is typically a much weaker as it doesn't have the destructive awe blaze does. she was cast aside as the heir in favor of her even lower, but at least more powerful, spark sister. in secret, she's broken the cultural barriers between the classes to work against her mother and and has learned to make full use of her meager power - turns out, she has full control of the entire electromagnetic spectrum!
