the two melodies my youngest son is most likely to idly hum or sing are "all i want for christmas is you" and the main theme from jurassic park, both of which predate his birth by 20 years but were just absorbed by sheer ubiquity

i did not intend for it to sound dismissive, i apologize

using the phrase "on the spectrum" to distinguish one group of people from another is kinda funny. we are all on the spectrum, that's why it's a spectrum. you can't be so far to one end that you just fall off the spectrum.

please note that when there's a new movie based on a book that's been made into other movies before, it's an adaptation and not a "remake" (unless it's explicitly based on one of the other movies and not the book)

"break stuff" hits the same even if you're having a really good day

i thought Superman (2025) was going to feel like the 2nd movie in a franchise already underway but it really feels like the 100th episode in a series

i'm more annoyed when i can't remember a word than when i can't remember something that happened. i don't need every memory of my own life, but i need access to the whole language.

violent euphemisms for sex like "smashing" and "cracking" are problematic. i prefer "hunching," sensual and evocative of two family pets grunting in a corner.

i've started to really resent the whole 'AITA' phenomenon -- life is full of conflicts and seldom is there a clear cut guilty party and innocent party, but let me take it to the court of public opinion to soothe my ego and get a bunch of uninvolved strangers on my side

working an outdoor commercial shoot in virginia, there's some light rain and we're just working and hoping it never becomes heavy rain

naming your band Patriarchy is funny to begin with but "special guest: Patriarchy" really has quite a ring to it

i can see why teenagers can't stand their parents because of course it's annoying that we can't let go of the time you said 'chillocket' instead of 'chocolate' 14 years ago
