I'm a licensed firearms instructor and wouldn't have task her with this if I didn't think she was capable. She IS capable. I've taught her to neutralize any immediate threat. But even if the worst happens, all she has to do is hit them and we'll have enough evidence to put it together.

Aside from that, she also has a dozen cameras around her property and I have access to the NVR remotely. That in itself is a lot of peace-of-mind. If you have an elderly loved one living independently, I highly recommend at a minimum a good outdoor surveillance system. Not just a "ring" doorbell.

In all the decades they're married, my dad never taught her how to own and use a firearm. He was the mighty protector (and he was). I think he had a different idea of how things would be after he was gone. She's a stubborn American woman, and that's fine. We just have to make sure she knows it's us.

My mother is elderly and determined to live self sufficiently. But I worry because my family is land wealthy and people assume that means cash wealthy. She's the widow of a sheriff. I've taught her to shoot and she has a firearm. We have to be careful about entering her home. Better this way tho.

I'll also point out that in the video the family posted, the guy sitting to her left isn't the BIL. That's her brother. His body language is saying "guarded"; but that means nothing. I'm sure if my mother was taken against her will, I'd feel vulnerable and be showing guarded posture as well.

In nutshell, it's just the police saying they have a reasonable idea of what time a crime happened, and they just have to be able to clear each person by being able to prove in some way or another that each person they're looking at couldn't have been at the location at that time.

The internet will go wild with headlines like this. True that in most cases, it's a relative. And that is why police are first looking at family. Proper police work doesn't accuse, it eliminates. This basically means that as of the time of this headline, police haven't eliminated the BIL as suspect.

I think DOJ did this on purpose and it's kind of hilarious.
Who could this be? Hmm…

And the murder of Alex Pretti should concern every American who still believes in the Second Amendment.

Putting breaching charges on doors and pulling people out of their homes without a judicial warrant should concern every American who still believes in the Fourth Amendment.

I think you're right. I think you can eat one meal per day "today" and be fatter and less healthy than someone who ate three meals per day with a dinner desert in any decade prior to 1970.

Our food, it's not real food. At least if you're not spending a fortune and "organic" doesn't mean "natural".

Actually, it was 135 BILLION pounds. I guess RFK Jr said "million" and Oz corrected him.

So -- everybody should be pretty slim four months in.

It's been 4-months since RFK Jr and "Doctor" Oz stated that America was going to lose 125 million pounds of fat in a year. Which means, it should be well on its weigh (sic/pun).

We should be about 40 million pounds lighter by now. Do you still see fat people out there? Yes/No.

I'll be upfront: I didn't exist in 1960. But I did grow up in the 1980s and yes, everything tasted better back then. Some junk food in the 1980s was healthier for you than what we commonly call meals today. RFK Jr is doing nothing important.

I've been watching Stephen King's 11/22/63. It's one of the few novels I've not read and have only seen show/movie. I am liking it. Which is funny, because I almost never like King's work on film, probably because I read the novel. But one thing that struck a chord with me: Better food in 1960!

Oh and also, Government Regulations = Private Sector Jobs!

To have Government Regulations, you need Government employees!

Immigrants working in ag = cheaper food.

That's not even hard math to figure out.

The stock market ≠ "The Economy".
Foreign Investment ≠ "The Economy."

If you want people to feel that the economy is great, then tax the shit out of billionaires, bring down housing costs, create universal single-payer healthcare and let that put money in people's pockets!

Trump: The polls on the economy should be great.

Llamas: Then why aren't they, if you believe that?

Trump: I don't know.

"I don't know" is the most honest thing this man has ever said.
Trump: "I'm starting to get great polls on the economy."

Llamas: "The polls on the economy, they're not great."

I'm in a process right now where I'm likely going to be taking a company to court. And one of the things that I'm doing "right now" is creating the paper trail. I won't take phone calls, all communications must be in some form of writing. I'm giving them a lot of opportunities. Paper trail matters!
Say it louder for the people in the back. I’m old so maybe the concept of a “paper” trail (& an e-trail) is completely unknown to anyone younger than I am, but still…..it’s hard to believe all these folks, who have presumably at one point or other ever worked for an actual company, don’t understand.
