Today my 5th trial/arbitration of 2025 starts in Flint, Michigan.
I’ve never had this many cases actually go to trial in a single year in my 18+ years of practicing. Will there be 6 for 2026?

Getting from LA/OC to Flint, Michigan for trial is already a nightmare... but with random flight cancelations... oy... literally getting to trial is becoming half the battle.

Best part of today was meeting the Judge’s dog in chambers- hearings got continued and MSC lasted 5 minutes- but now we know more about the schedule and the courtroom and the flights/accommodations.

October has been a rollercoaster and Halloween didn’t turn out exactly as planned (disintegrating costume and mostly empty brewery) but last night I gave up on my hair- put on a witchy dress and nails- and we headed out to Playa Provisions for a yummy meal and a few last Halloween decorations.

October has been a rollercoaster and Halloween didn’t turn out exactly as planned (disintegrating costume and mostly empty brewery) but last night I gave up on my hair- put on a witchy dress and nails- and we headed out to Playa Provisions for a yummy meal and a few last Halloween decorations.
Took the cat on a Hamventure today. (His name is Hamlet.) Not pictured was the large hawk sitting at the base of a tree eating a squirrel. Hammie highly enjoyed the live squirrels and chilling in his travel backpack outdoors at a restaurant afterwards.

So in a case where I represent the Plaintiff, we won a large verdict and now are setting an evidentiary hearing for punitives and the other side just hired multiple partners from a big name law firm to handle this evidentiary hearing and I am boggled. Like the horses are out of the barn already.

Tried to get into spooky season this weekend with a trip to Pete’s Spookeasy. (Normally Pete’s Sunset Grille.) There were Halloween decorations galore and spooky themed drinks and food!
