Finished THE STAIRCASE IN THE WOODS by @chuckwendig.bsky.social and all I can coherently say is that it got me. Right in the feels. I don't like to compare books often, but this book is right on par with how I always feel after an IT re-read. 😭 Loved it.

She's doing ridiculously well. It's just clearing the giardia now. All her other worms and issues are gone. Her vaccines didn't even phase her. She's got bonkers energy. She's afraid of the mop, tho.

She has another 5 day course of dewormer, maybe 10 days (they'll call tomorrow). Then 2 weeks after that we do another test. So it'll be another 19-25 days before its clear (because it WILL BE at her next test). 🫠

Pancake update: she still has giardia. Her results are "Very Low" as compared to her previous "Very High", so progress in the right direction, but I still have to double up the cleaning: daily fresh litter, 3x wiping her down, 2x wiping the room down, daily laundry, daily fresh/sanitized toys. 😪

Also she's now 5.6 pounds so she's gained about 1.5 pounds in 1 month and is right on track

Also we now have medicated ear drops because her ears are FILTHY and we're redoing the flea and tick treatments for the next 2 months.

Pancake update: she got her booster shots today and we started her second round of dewormer. As you can see she still has tons of energy. We won't find out about the giardia until tomorrow at the earliest. She did great at the vet and in the car. She was a big hit. Zero trauma. Moar snax.

Hahaha she definitely gives zero shits. It's been YEARS since I've had a kitten and its so cute seeing their personalities develop. She's definitely going to be a snuggler.

She has taken to indoor life so well. Honestly I thought it it would take a lot longer. I really hope we get a negative giardia test on Tuesday tho so she can come out and play with her brothers

Pancake update: this morning during the zoomies she threw herself on top of my monitor, which promptly fell over. I guess she had to double check that gravity was still working, but accidentally launched her modern art phase. This one is called Tuna Migration.

Pancake update: really hoping for a negative giardia test on Tues. She has more & more energy every day. Today she was bonkers off the wall. Literally climbing the walls. She super wants to leave the room and meet her brothers, and they want to meet her! Terrible coworker, tho. So distracting.

Ps: the Chewy box is a little maze I made for her! She plays with her toys and catnip in it and every night I put some treats in there for her to hunt.

Pancake update: every day her energy doubles. She's making a ton of new noises and loves cuddling. She's started to demand pets, and boy is she persistent. She and her brothers are doing nightly meals together (separated by the screen) and she can't wait to get out. Hopefully soon!
