I wanted to do animation right out of high school but my mom was very traditional and I ended up doing a business degree at University of Ottawa; after one year of working as a market research analyst, I decided I still wanted to pursue animation and moved to Vancouver to go back to school.

Obviously no culture is a monolith, but I did like the care and daintiness of the service we received at the ryokans in Japan. Maybe I DO want my carrots to be carefully cut into star shapes in my meals.
