"Palo verde" (Fabaceae: Parkinsonia spp.) is Spanish for "green tree" because these small drought-tolerant trees are covered in green bark. When they get a little rain, however, their bright yellow flowers steal the show. Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Arizona, 09 Apr 2018.
