Pre election: “We will protect these rights, and fight for true equity for women—in health, in the workplace, and in their access to fundamental rights.”

Now the government is contemplating cuts so deep that they will exceed those that laid waste to the women’s sector during the Harper years.

Bratt writes.

"This is not just an ordinary MOU. It is a really big deal that has taken months to negotiate. Time will tell how well it gets implemented. But right now, the MOU has clear political winners (Smith and Carney) and losers (Eby and Poilievre)."

Hmm

"Mentioning a greenfield oil pipeline proposal within the MOU indicates the prime minister is willing to spend some political capital"

“I just feel like the stars are aligning.”

It’s more nuanced than that, IMHO. He was neoliberal on fiscal & economic matters, timidly progressive on environmental & climate matters, & somewhat more progressive on social issues, Indigenous rights, & DEI.

Remember, carbon tax was a conservative free-market idea.

Prime Minister Carney killed off the key environmental planks
..
Some people tell me the Prime Minister is playing 3-D chess, and I should be patient. But the planet is on fire, and patience is at least 10 years out of date. If they are indeed playing 3-D chess, Danielle Smith is owning the board.
There is no political, economic or environmental case for even pretending to consider Northern Gateway pipeline.
Mark Carney has given a huge with to Danielle Smith while reviving the environmental conflicts of Stephen Harper.
This is a huge mistake.
My latest.

To be Left is to be anti-Capitalist.

Liberals are not anti-Capitalist, they are not left.
NDP does not seem to be anti-capitalist either, there are some NDP members that might qualify as anti-capitalist.

In terms of people running for Federal NDP leadership, Yves Engler might fit the bill.

I second this. Damn if these aren't 3 of my top pet peeves. Oh yeah, walking the girls, there's poop on the paved paths. Letting your dog poop in the grass and not picking up is shitty, but leaving it on walkways, egregious!
If you’re incapable of picking up your dog’s poop, get a cat.

If you don’t stop at stop signs or use your turn signals, walk or take the bus.

if you can’t or won’t* shovel snow from your walkway and sidewalk, live in an apartment.

The world needs to come together and stop this shit by whatever means, bombs included. They should be forced to use 100% recycled water, 100% renewable or nuclear energy, or shut down. On top of that all the generative AI shit, specifically video and image generation needs to be banned.

"Canada is the world’s fourth largest fossil fuel producer, with production continuing to increase. Alberta, the epicentre of bitumen production, is aiming to double its production by 2035. Canada is a laggard in meeting its emissions reduction commitments under the Paris Accord."

More 4D Chess and .. uh, well, I guess this is one of those "you don't know what he's doing behind the scenes" scenarios. Please, no more like this.

"After all, a lie of omission is still a lie. There’s a word for a politician who behaves like that. But it’s not a very parliamentary term."
I never want to hear a supporter of @mark-carney.bsky.social use the words "nation building" ever again.

It's not nation building to completely exclude a province from negotiations about their interests, and it's not nation building to lie directly to a premier.

Everyone knows data centers use a lot of water. What’s less known is how they can poison the drinking water that remains.

It’s already happening in eastern Oregon, according to a new bombshell investigation from Rolling Stone and the Food and Env Reporting Network.

Maybe.

Maybe a neoliberal banker, with a soft spot for fossil fuels.
Backing off on Green House Gas limits...using that as a bargaining chip...

Gamesmanship with pollution as a pawn.

It says everything we need to know about federal gvnt commitment to the environment.

Maybe Carney's not a genius. Maybe he's just an O&G mole.
November 25, 2025 at 7:09 PM
Sigh. Charlie says it all.

This won't end well.
Danielle Smith just suckered Mark Carney into reviving the Northern Gateway pipeline.
This is the antithesis of "nation-building."
There is no economic, political or environmental case for Stephen Harper's dream.
This won't end well.
For Canada or Carney.

It's very very dark.

"This shocking contrast — between mass death, environmental destruction, and obscene extravagance — exposes humanity as fundamentally selfish, cruel, and driven by greed, utterly indifferent to the trillions of lives crushed in its wake."

Climate leadership is not building more pipelines.
One of the many ways that fossil fuel shills capitalize on embarrassingly low levels of public scientific literacy is the way that partisans pretend a few token gestures towards the climate being sprinkled on top of fossil fuel expansion can be called leadership.

It's very much the opposite.
