Pew Research Institute (2023):

• Red State Texas has about 2.1 million undocumented immigrants

• Red State Florida has 1.6 M undocumented immigrants

• Blue State Minnesota has 130,000.

And yet only Minnesota is being occupied by masked thugs over "immigration."

It's *not* about immigration.

But, no riggers are ever gonna read our posts, are they?

They’re never gonna know we were always for them. That because we were outside looking in it was easier for us to recognise they were being used, fucked over, the toll it took on their families, the fabric of our communities.

Big Oil and greed has destroyed the fabric of Alberta communities and made us sitting ducks for those who would infiltrate, divide and conquer us.

We need to come together, try to heal our differences and tell those who have used us, robbed us to take a hike.

The oilfield should belong to the riggers. That sacrificed everything – most notably their families. The oilfields led to the breakdown of a lotta fams. We all knew kids: “Dad is never around, when he is he’s sleeping, getting stuff done… He doesn’t know anything about me, my school or friends…”

More unpublished 1950 LIFE photos of Marilyn Monroe at Fern Dell in Griffith Park, uncovered in 2009.

I know she's only reading screenplays here, but with reading for pleasure dropping 40% in the last 20 years, tell me these couldn't make for a revamped "Reading is Sexy" PSA.

We just saw this, and it’s a good idea for businesses to post. Private businesses are allowed to set dress and conduct rules. Requiring no full face coverings has long been standard for safety and loss prevention reasons, and it is within a business’s rights to refuse entry or service.

Read that again: They. Didn’t. Fit. In. With. Their. Own. Families. Anymore.

That’s what the job did to ‘em. And now they’re being laid off by the tens of thousands?

Fuck that, man. 😢
January 18, 2026 at 8:48 PM
And how many times have we all heard some neighbourhood lady say something like: “Oh! Thank god breakup is over, hubz has gone back to work and things are back to normal”? Because they’re gone so much their constant presence actually disrupted the lives of their families and they didn’t fit in.

Alberta's oilpatch cut 10,000 jobs last year — even as production soared

Right?!? They’re laying off tens of thousands of folks amid record production and profits. 🤬

Back in the day industry only laid folks off during recessions. They valued employees and communities they profited from. Now they just use, abuse and throw us in the trash once we’ve served our purpose.

Folks think I’m anti O&G. I’m not. I’m anti greed. I want environmentally sustainable industries. I want the regular, everyday folks and their fams who built the industry to have their due, the support they need, deserve. Not this rollercoaster life where their sacrifices aren’t even acknowledged.

Maybe they’d try to compensate with a fancy vacay, but that’s just more superficial materialism. And most times the fam had commitments to school or jobs the absentee parent had become oblivious to.

The oilfield just fucked everything up for lotsa folks: Isolation, substance abuse, porn…

😞
January 18, 2026 at 8:18 PM
I mean, those riggers are hard workers – HARD. They work long hours in isolation and then ‘boom’ spring breakup rolls around and lots of ‘em just didn’t know what to do with themselves, weren’t equipped to fit into mundane, day-to-day family routines. For real.
January 18, 2026 at 8:18 PM
And being home for 3 months a year during spring breakup does not routines or connections make. Lotsa fams didn’t know what to do or how to manage an absentee parent being home 24/7 for 3 months and disrupting their routines. There were lotsa fights and arguments as result. Don’t kid yourselves.

It pisses me off so much. ALBERTANS and no one else broke their backs building the oilfield, building the industry. People fucking died doing it, too. The whole shebang really should belong to the riggers. But, it doesn’t and an elite few became obscenely wealthy on their blood, sweat and tears.
January 18, 2026 at 8:06 PM
And it really made a lotta kids/spouses vulnerable and insecure regardless of how their material needs were being met. And that led to a large segment of our population becoming very superficial and materialistic – placing value on that over the substance of relationships and connections.
