Looked up from writing and saw the afternoon light turn the lake and evergreens into a vintage watercolor, with softened edges, slate and moss tones, and small flecks of amber and gold catching on the surface.

Me: searches stash for a spare gold nib
I put a gold nib on a Lamy Safari—sort of the fountain pen equivalent of putting boutique pickups in your beater guitar—and honestly it’s freaking awesome.

Walk along the craters of the afternoon
When the shadows are deep and the light is alien
And gravity leaps like a knife off the pavement"

Book banning may seem like the new normal. But at PEN America, we're fighting back—partnering with students, parents, teachers, librarians and like-minded organizations to protect the freedom to read. Organizers have reported 7 million attendees at the No Kings events and we’re happy to confirm 7 million and counting! More events are still happening across the country today, so we’ll need additional time to fully certify the final numbers.

Over 2.3 million confirmed so far and the rural wave is real. We were tracking ~3,000 events, but small towns across the country are pouring in with numbers we hadn’t included. A submission portal for city + attendance is coming soon. All counts will be double-certified before the final release.

Thanks to local hobby farm friends dropping off fresh milk and honey (thank you, happy cows and bees!), I made yogurt for the first time—sweetened with that golden honey and topped with raspberries from our still-producing bushes.
I'm feeling rather home-steady right now. 😉
