Hello new followers 👋 Thanks for following! My account is a mix of my two jobs (trade unions and numismatics research) with a sprinkling of allotments, poetry, and museums… Keep following if you like employment rights, coins, and vegetables! As a reward here’s a picture of a giant cottager’s kale 🌱

Another intriguing defaced #coin for #FindsFriday. This time it's a quarter stater of the Coriosolitae, 15mm diameter, with multiple cuts on the obverse - mostly vertical (ten, I think) but there's a horizontal one too. Somebody went to a lot of trouble to deface this... #numismatics #archaeology 🏺

For you fans of Roman history and numismatics out there - exciting stuff!
À Senon (Meuse), une fouille menée par l'Inrap a notamment révélé des dépôts monétaires antiques et mis au jour une large portion d’un quartier d'habitation antique peu connu.

In the civil service the disability pay gap stands at 8%.

Whilst the FDA applauds the civil service for choosing to publish their Disability Pay Gap figures voluntarily, employers must engage with unions to improve the working lives of disabled civil servants and remove workplace barriers.

I’ve finally got the broad beans in! There are still winter radish and fennel in the middle of the bed so I’ve planted around them - hope it all works… 🌱 #allotment

Recorded two coins this week. 🏺 One is a gold (my first !!) half guinea of George III, bent on opposite sides and directions, probably a love token. The other is a massive silver bank token made when small change was short, also George III. Same bust for both. #FindsFriday

Probably my favourite duck - I love watching them dabble when I can catch a glimpse of them! I was lucky enough to see some Marbled Teal (aka Marbled Duck) in Spain earlier this year too.
Our #AutumnArrivalSpotlight turns to the Teal today, the UK’s smallest dabbling duck. 🦆

With visitors arriving from northern Europe, their vibrant green eye-stripes brighten our lakes and marshes.

Chilly morning at the #allotment! We went mostly to get this area weeded ready to plant over-wintering broad beans but some harvesting too…
