I don't see that. Its really easy. The only thing that's true is that every instance has an application process that does bar entry.

What's nice about mastodon is that rather than a singular company dictating all the rules, each instance creates their own policies.

I think prospective clients should realize that commission artists run a business. They need to be treated like one.

Also make sure that you read artists' terms around payments before doing anything of the sort. I allow negotiations on good faith as well as payment plans. But not everyone does. Artists should make their payment policies clear as well

Please DO NOT negociate artist's rates. It is incredibly rude. Art takes time and we all have a rent to pay ! If you can't afford it, that's okay, but DON'T ask for a lower price.

I do allow negotiations and payment plans cuz I know people are strapped but I generally agree with the sentiment. People should make sure to read artists' terms and artists should make clear terms.
