In other news, today I published a Substack post!

I'm still talking about abundance and scarcity, and this time I'm looking at mental load.

Shout out to everyone who carries too much, keeps tight control, and is very tired.

Also I would like to eat ice cream.

When I say my husky is like a toddler, what I mean is that if I count above the number 3, she yells at me because it seems she thinks all other numbers are fake.

Anyway, happy EIGHTH birthday to this sassy sweetie, she really is a very good girl.

They say we are a melting pot. A blend of all different kinds of people.
They say it but expect everyone to act & behave a certain way. To assimilate.

But the thing about soup is that once you add an ingredient it changes the flavor. It ads depth. It can’t go back.

Maybe we need more spices.

Chat, what do we think: are xennials and millennials more comfortable with therapy because Larry the Cucumber normalized it for us?

I'm not looking forward to 2 weeks of "rematch of Super Bowl 49" headlines and retrospective.

They should have run it. Why did he throw. We know.

Today is the 5th anniversary of my mom's stroke. This feels like a nice way to reclaim a pretty awful day. Thanks, Hawks.

She looks like a mom whose toddler is approaching a strange dog for the first time, wondering, "Will the dog bite Junior? Will Junior bite the dog? Could go either way."

(Obviously, best practice is to just not let your toddler approach strange dogs alone.)
If you're not watching the PBS footage, you're missing out on seeing Karoline Leavitt looking really, really anxious about Trump's rambling...

I'm trying to dissociate from some ✨️things✨️ with the Hamilton soundtrack, but it's hitting too many current events.

Still sets a good typing pace, though

Baptism begins w/renouncing Satan & evil:

Military incursions and bombings?
I renounce them.

Big Lie and Insurrection defended by Orwellian propaganda?
I renounce them.

Masked state agents rounding up human beings and shooting those who protest?
I renounce them.

Christmas week at work is fun because some people scheduled the week off in advance, some people are suddenly falling ill, and the rest of us are obsessively watching the email traffic to see if we need to just jump in and handle extra tasks.

(I do not have time to be bleeting this but here we are)

One of my favorite Christmas memories from childhood is when my parents decided to cut out the stress of a big dinner and make what everyone in our house liked: tacos.

Sometimes the standards we are holding ourselves to are life-sucking rather than life-giving.

From the children's sermon today:

Bishop Ben: when do you feel peaceful?

Child: when my little brothers aren't annoying me

Bp Ben: *repeats for the congregation without laughing*

Congregation: gentle laughter and a few amens 😂😂

A blessed and peaceful Peace Sunday to us all!
