HECK YES BLUESKY HAS VIDEO 🎉

Allow me to share with the Bluesky crew my time lapse of inking #Storm. I am a mom and the primary childcare provider. I had to take care of my sick baby this day, so placed a toy in frame when I stepped away to do so.

“Authoritarians tend to seize existing facilities while the government works on building new, more permanent structures. So you'll see stadiums, warehouses, racetracks, and the like commandeered to hold masses of people.”
“I’ve mentioned before that concentration camp regimes in their early stages often make use of large open infrastructure to convert into detention spaces. Dachau was converted from a shuttered factory into a concentration camp in 1933.”
When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.

1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

Why I am in the soup.

Well, I suppose with hashtags like mine and not posting art every day, you would find me in the soup between professional creative industries. Just floating along.

Still, thanks for the following and sharing, fellow soups. 🍲 🍜 🥣

I’m waiting in the car to see the doctor with my kid, who probably has strep throat.

These unpleasant moments are the only real time I have to chip away at personal pieces.

And y’all, this might be the first time I’ve opened this piece and actually liked it.

Thinking of living in Japan?
Remember: houses are not insulated for winter. Inside and outside are pretty much the same temperature.

This is my bedroom window.

Animation and comics friends, I’d love to see pretty examples of limited color! all my skill points are in storyboard. my color points are very low. I’m trying to think of ways to do limited mostly flat color bgs in a way that would be fast and accessible to me. Open to suggestions!

Horrific.
Kelly Vargas writes about what happened to her, her husband, and their 6yo daughter in the family camp in Texas.

Filth, illness, medical abuse—her child has lasting complications from being injured by a staff member.

We don't know the half of what's happening in the camps, but we know enough.
My Daughter Lived the Liam Ramos Nightmare. It Turned Out Worse for Us.
The constant threats took a toll on my health. My daughter’s health deteriorated even faster.

It bothers me that this looks cooler taken from my camera at an angle than my actual (unfinished) art.

But yeah it looks rad.

Today I read a pick-me-sir editorial column written by Tim Sheehy (R-MT). He was a ✨guest author✨ in a Bozeman paper (where I’m from).

Then I read a public statement from the Bozeman PD, declaring it will not work with ICE, it will always be visually identifiable, and side with the constitution. 💅

As the casita crumbles, but also protects Mirabel in its final moments, my daughter says, “It’s so nice.”

I say, the house represents the spirit of the grandfather, who died to protect his family.

Daughter, everything clicked: “and seeing his family fight, broke his heart…”

And now we’re crying.
One of the most beautiful and powerful movies ever made.

My kid: “Why didn’t Mirabel join everyone in the photograph?”

Me: “Why did they just take it without her?”

Happy #earthquake day to my #Montana mates!

Though I've only experienced 1 earthquake in Montana in my life (1991? Noisy, big shaking), I tell people that yes, earthquakes there are a thing. Super volcano and all that.
