The #ACCC announced they were suing #Microsoft due to their misleading bundling of Copilot into Microsoft 365 plans.

My recent move meant that I had to update /etc/locale.conf on my machines. Easy enough:

TPG Telecom's IPv6 routing to @wikipedia.org has been broken for the past 2 weeks at least, with traffic being routed back and forth between Adelaide and Sydney.

Both my and @porcelainmai.bsky.social's mobile are unable to connect to Wikipedia.

I am loving #Yooka-Replaylee so far. @playtonicgames.com did an amazing job with this redo of the original.

If you are a #platformer / #collectathon fiend like I am, give this one a try.

It runs beautifully on the Steam Deck and on desktop Linux.

I wonder if Microsoft secretly wants everyone to switch to Linux. There are certainly fewer reasons to stick to Windows every day: www.theverge.com/news/793579/...

I read articles like this one, and I'm glad I'm not a #Windows person.

Forcing an online account is unacceptable. #Microsoft needs your personal info to feed their AI machine, and I look forward to the bubble bursting for their leadership to get their comeuppance.

It has been a while since I sat down and took the time to write.

Here's a quick exploration of why #anti-cheat providers are now requiring players to enable #SecureBoot and their #TPM. Will this reduce cheating? What does it mean for us Linux folks?

What's frustrating about moving countries is not the visa process, it's the hoops Steam and Nintendo make you go through to simply switch regions. It's truly infuriating and kafkaesque.

Having finished chapter 1 last weekend, I now have a #selaco shaped void that will only be fixed when chapter 2 comes out later.

@selaco.bsky.social , absolutely awesome game. It was a blast from A to Z. Perfect blend of action and exploration.

Having just played through the demo of #Yooka-Replaylee on #Steam, I already have a feeling that it will be a much more well rounded game than its original iteration.

I really like the changes to KUrlNavigator (used in Dolphin for the navigation bar) in @kde.org Frameworks 6.12.

The new version clearly communicates intent, you can easily identify special folders by the icon, clickable zones are easy to identify. What a huge UX improvement!

Someone will have to explain to me why it seems like @jetbrains.com IDEs' seem to use a random number generator to decide what scaling to use when launching on KDE Wayland. It randomly decides between my configured scaling option (1.5x), 2x and 1x on launch.

It's infuriating.

It's always fun to browse around people's #Linux rices on Reddit, but I just prefer plain old #KDE Breeze, with the Papirus icon theme, and a custom greeter widget that I build with Eww (ElKowar's Wacky Widgets). No fancy transparency, no fancy colors.

What does your #Linux desktop look like?

If you are a fan of space games, you really have to pick up @everspace.game . I'm having an absolute blast. What a great way to relax this evening.

FYI, it runs really well on handheld devices like the #SteamDeck, and lends itself well to both short and long play sessions.

I watched #CBC 's @ianhanomansing.bsky.social Cross Country Checkup. What an absolute disgrace. #CBC needs to make some serious changes to the editorial board of this show.

There is no justification to air a discussion about an annexation Canadians don't support. And O'Leary? Really?

Disgraceful.
“Join CBC next Sunday when they discuss CHILD ABDUCTION: A CONVERSATION.

Sure it’s illegal and immoral, but join hosts as they ignore that and discuss the pros and cons of abduction in a stimulating intellectual conversation.”

Obviously /sarc. Shame on the CBC for normalizing an act of war.
Join us Sunday across all CBC News platforms, 130 NPR stations and CSPAN for a very special live 🇨🇦/🇺🇸 call-in special. 51st STATE: A CROSS BORDER CONVERSATION hosted by Ian Hanomansing & Jeremy Hobson begins 4 p.m. ET

Finished migrating from #openSUSE to #ArchLinux on 2 PCs.

systemd-boot is setup with Secure Boot with a custom entry for my seldomly used Windows install (with Bitlocker). Everything works as expected.

The only real sadness is that my pipewire config was not in chezmoi.
January 31, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Maybe it's time to switch to #ArchLinux, BTW...
January 28, 2025 at 10:22 AM
I'm starting to be properly annoyed by #opensuse 's decision to only provide production branch Nvidia drivers in the repos. 550.x does not provide a good experience on Wayland.

Maybe it's time to go back to #Fedora KDE, even if the official repos are lacking core tools that I use (chezmoi).
