Bending Spoons' spending spree continues with Eventbrite in an all-cash $500M deal, after buying Vimeo and Harvest earlier this year, with a $1.5B AOL acquisition still pending. (They also bought Meetup, WeTransfer, Brightcove, Issuu, and Hopin last year!)

"Another volumetric display! This one does away with the wildly spinning arrays of LEDs, instead using projection mapping onto a point cloud etched inside a block of glass." And yes, you can play DOOM on it. youtu.be/wrfBjRp61iY

My Feedly Pro annual subscription finally expired, so I switched to @inoreader.com on @molly.wiki's recommendation. It does everything Feedly did but better, without shoving unwanted AI features and ads for creepy corporate surveillance/threat intelligence services down my throat. Recommended!

"We are so hungry for conflict that we turn something as boring as Wikipedia into a part of the culture war." If you saw that clip of Jimmy Wales walking out of an interview, or just care at all about Wikipedia, @hankgreen.bsky.social provides some useful context. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zi0...

In 1999, the early internet felt like a digital frontier—and few stories capture its innocence and deceit like the saga of Kaycee Nicole. Written in cinematic detail, this longform feature traces how ...

This is misleading.

1. The opt-out for creators is channel-wide, not per-video. It's available in YouTube Studio right now.
2. The low-res versions aren't going away. YouTube will automatically generate multiple upscaled copies, but you can still choose to view the 144p/240p versions if you want.

I have a folder in my feedreader for infrequently-updated feeds. Occasionally, one wakes up from a long nap and surprises me. Today, I saw @tokyohanna.bsky.social posted to her Blogspot for the first time since September 2013. Yet another reason why I love RSS. tokyohanna.blogspot.com

A followup to my post two weeks ago, I found the couple at the center of the Will Smith AI crowd video. I wanted to know what it was like to find yourselves in the middle of a hypermodern problem: being confused for AI slop. waxy.org/2025/09/inte...

I tracked down the couple at the center of the viral Will Smith AI concert video. What does it feel like for millions of people to think you're an AI hoax?

In case you missed it last night, I dug into Will Smith's "fake AI crowd" video. Nearly everyone got this wrong, and the evidence was easy to find… if you're sick enough to watch everything Will Smith posted on social media in the last four months.
You may have seen this story blowing up about Will Smith using AI to generate fake audiences to promote his latest tour, but the truth is more complicated. The audiences are real, but the footage was manipulated: first by Will Smith's team and then, without permission, by YouTube itself.

I'm amazed I've never seen this before: a photo licensing company shaking down someone for hosting an image used in an Open Graph tag.
New blog post! 🚀

A few months ago a media org demanded a license fee for an open graph image I linked. I paid the fee because I was worried, but it raises serious questions about open graph usage on the web!

This goes through how it went and my thoughts.

Going through some old boxes, I found our 21-year-old son's first iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone. We powered them up and each one was a time capsule at different ages. It had old Minecraft and Terraria worlds he played with friends, texts/photos/videos, games long since removed from the App Store.
