A win for our 'Keep it Local' campaign today!

Government has just said public contracts should 'maximise spend with SMEs and VCSE organisations'.

This could be a first step towards helping local people get better services and building the economy.

Charged with implementing that big idea in your council?

Our #HowWeDidIt series puts officers who have ‘been there and done that’ in the hot seat.

No high-level conceptual stuff – just what you need to do to deliver.

The Local Government Finance Settlement is the start of recovery, not the end.

We are ensuring greater financial stability through the first multi-year settlement in over a decade and rebuilding public services with over £5bn additional funding to start fixing the foundations.

Always one of the most motivating events of the year - at Leeds State of the City #LeedsSOTC we're looking at #TeamLeeds in our localities, the incredible ground-up work that happens in our communities and how together we can do more. A room full of people doing inspiring things that improve lives.

Enjoyable and motivational afternoon at the annual State of the City #LeedsSOTC event. Theme this year was #TeamLeeds and how this can be enabled and embedded in our communities. Lots of good ideas and honesty. As we navigate choppy waters ahead, partnership working and collaboration will be vital.

Putting power back into local communities is a priority of mine and of this government.

Our government’s desire is to take power out of Westminster and give it back to local communities, while working with local councils collaboratively to achieve better outcomes for the communities they serve.

Totally agree. Working in Harehills and East Leeds for many years meant I witnessed first hand how an unregulated housing market can adversely impact a community.

Change conversations across all sectors in Leeds are very much being informed by opportunities around increased integration (via co-location but also, crucially, a shared culture and common purpose), early intervention and prevention as well Community Power/empowerment. Exciting times.
We are working across Local Government to drive reform and prevention as the foundation of rebuilding local public services, tackling spiraling cost and delivering better outcomes.

Great to work alongside Georgia Gould at the Cabinet Office and colleagues in local government as it builds.
