A great team effort 🐝👏
After so many broken promises, now is the time for action to give the North the rail connectivity it deserves.

It took a Labour government to do the hard yards, national government working hand in glove with our mayors to make it happen. (1/2)

Northern Powerhouse Rail is finally moving forward & Labour is delivering for the North after years of Tory failure.

A new Manchester–Liverpool line, Piccadilly underground & better links across our region will shorten journeys, increase capacity, reduce congestion & drive local economic growth.
Labour is Delivering for the North where the Tories Failed
After many promises not kept under the previous government, we now have a plan to allow Northern Powerhouse Rail to finally move forward – and it’s a £45 billion boost for the North. 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲…

We are very proud of the success of Manchester Airport, but it’s got to step up and sort out its drop-off payment and enforcement.

And a marker is down. Gatwick’s £10 is a rip off. That is a move which should be undone, not followed.

Manchester Airport parking shouldn’t catch people out, that's why I raised concerns in Parliament about confusing drop-off & pick-up charges and disproportionate costs.

We need more transparency, clearer signage, fairer short-stay rules, and a proper appeals process for local people across Oldham.
Fair parking. Clear rules. Better access at Manchester Airport.
Yesterday in Westminster Hall I spoke about the impact of parking, drop off and pick up charges at Manchester Airport, and what this means for local residents, airport workers and families travelli…

Many Labour MPs back an Australian led ban on social media for under 16s.

The UK Government should give it full consideration.

Zahawi said he was frightened at the thought of Farage becoming PM.

Fair play, he's joined them to make sure that doesn't happen.

There is a lot of discussion about why X and why Grok, when other AI and editing programmes allow user directed image generation. (1/4)
X could 'lose right to self regulate', says Starmer
It is currently illegal to share deepfakes, but the law against creating them has not yet come into force.

X has become divisive, extreme and irrational by design.

But I honestly didn’t think elected politicians, however small in number, would line up to defend the platform or wilfully ignore the generation of sexual abuse images particularly against children. (1/2)

Musk says outcry over X's Grok service is 'excuse for censorship'
The government is urging Ofcom to use all its powers – up to and including an effective ban – against X.

🚨 There's over 400 Labour and Co-operative candidates ready to contest this year's Local Elections - but we're not stopping here.

If you're a Co-operative Party member thinking of standing as a Labour candidate, why not stand as a joint candidate? 🌹🐝

There seems to be good progress on dealing with re-selling test slots, but more urgency needed to end the inherited backlog of driving tests. For learners in Greater Manchester and all the main cities, it's a 24 week wait already. (1/2)

Over 70% of ambulance workers fear burnout.

And nearly half worry about physical attacks.

We've launched a new paper titled "Empowering Communities through Empowered Councils".

Over the last year, the Government has boosted powers to not just local councils, but residents too. Here's a few examples of what we can do with these brand new powers, campaigned for by the Co-operative Party.
