Front and back cover of How to Saw a Man in Half by Andy Mascola paperback edition: Content Warning: This book contains discussions of suicide, mental health struggles, and other potentially distressing topics.
It was eight in the morning on a Friday. I'd just arrived for work. I'd been employed by this particular company for about a month. I was asked to follow the woman past a glass office wherein I saw my supervisor sitting behind a laptop with an employee across from him. This was highly abnormal for that early hour. Something was up. I began to sweat.
I was brought into a room where it was just the female superior and myself. She shut the door. I stood against a wall as if in front of a firing squad, my hands hanging loosely by my sides. She stood at the opposite side of the room, one foot on the lowest rung of a chair, and proceeded to tell me how a colleague had complained about me. This was it. I was about to get fired for the third time in the same year. I began to shake. I shook so much that the woman noticed.
"What's going on?" she asked.
I didn't want to speak for fear my voice would sound shaky. I didn't want to tell this woman I'd been canned twice in the last ten months under circumstances very similar to what was happening in that moment. I didn t want to tell this woman that la only recently got my confidence back and was beginning to fear I was about to lose it again. I didn't want this woman to know that my wife of over twenty years didn't love me anymore and wanted a divorce. I didn't want this woman to know my wife had told me she no longer wanted me to express tender sentiments toward her because she didn t reciprocate them. I didn't want to tell this woman, whom Id known in a professional capacity for barely a handful of weeks, and who was not my friend, or at all friendly to me, that my wife did not want me to touch her anymore.
"I've had a bad couple years," was all I could get out.

America’s president is such an unabashed megalomaniacal narcissist that if Jimmy Kimmel invited him on his show, Trump would 100% appear.

Hope I live long enough to see this fuckery end and can enjoy a couple decent Trump-free years in the US.

I remember buying the “smoke from your fingertips” in a magic shop (??or some toy store that had a magic section) and it was one of the most disappointing purchases of my childhood.

I miss smoking so much. Cambridge were my brand of choice, but I usually had to settle for Camel Lights.

Desus & Mero had a cable show for ten minutes back in the 20-teens. Meanwhile, Tim Allen’s been on network TV every damn day since I was in high school.
