China remains way ahead in clean energy growth, adding more solar and wind capacity than the rest of the world combined. This enabled the growth in renewable generation in China to outpace rising electricity demand and helped reduce its fossil fuel generation by 2%.

NEW: Home Office announces planned new anti-protest powers, mainly aimed at pro-Gaza protests like those for Palestine Action. Police will be able to consider the "cumulative impact" of repeated protests and potentially order that they be relocated.

Will definitely do this again .. growing courgettes vertically. It's a bit fiddly tying them in, but well worth it .. so much easier to look after, and they take up less space.

My Dad's father, grandfather, & generations before had been miners, but in 1939, he was working in that other Yorkshire industry .. the woollen Mills (Beanlands in Clayton West). Night school was his golden ticket to breaking out of the mould and becoming a draughtsman & manager in an iron foundry.
