Currently dabbling in #godot, where I'm working on Dawn of Days - Tactics, an SRPG roguelite.
What's the preferred pattern for managing core functionality? Service scripts that field signals, or singletons? Is one noticeably more performant? I was mostly using signals but I worry that all those async calls could lead to timing issues. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

My toddler can't say "gloves" yet, so she calls them "guvvos". I hope she never grows up.

I'm having a crisis of data structure in my #godot game. I need to associate a TON of meta data to each unique instance a scene, and though I can do it in the inspector, that is a CHORE to manage. I'm looking for a clean, scalable way to do this. Using .tres files might work, but it's not great.

Tech giants are investing billions to develop AI. Whether that bubble bursts or not, expect to have to pay to use AI in the near future, or (and?) for AI to basically become a very smart commercial, weaving ads and brands into everything it says. This free age of AI we're in right now can't last.

As bitter as George Carlin got in his twilight years, can you imagine what he'd have to say nowadays about Trump, AI, etc...

This month marks a year of development on the #godot version of Dawn of Days - Tactics. As a solo dev (with a full time "real" job, and two little ones) I haven't been able to put a ton of time into the game, but I'm having a blast. Here's to another year in the trenches!

I love it when new systems I'm developing for my game snap right into existing systems I've already developed, accidentally. Makes me feel like I'm building it the right way.

I used to think my favorite #Predator movies were the first two. Nah. Dan Trachtenberg owns this IP now. Though I'd say Badlands is the weakest of his three entries, I'd still say his contributions to the franchise are by far my favorite. I'm excited about Predator again!

The SkyNet apocalypse pop-culture promised us won't happen because AI gains true sentience -- it will happen because assholes will use AI for hacking and black-hat tomfoolery.

I've had Seven Days of the Week as my alarm clock song for about 15 years now, and I think I'll keep it that way for the rest of my life. #tmbg

Whether Microsoft is ready to leave the console market or not (it seems inevitable they'll have too at some point), I just can't find it in me to be sad. Maybe I've drank too much Nintendo Kool Aid, but I don't see what they brought to the industry that makes them deserve a funeral.

Hi. I'm Dragon Quest. I'm what happens when a basic-ass JRPG gets a budget and some polish and waaay too much hype.

It's been fun working on Dawn of Days: Tactics in #godot, but lately I've been able to work on enemy AI and that's been particularly exciting. I've wanted to program this kind of logic for so long. There's nothing more off-putting in a strategy game than stupid NPCs. #gamedev #indiegamedev

Rewatching Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and it just blows my mind how great it is. I want to live in the universe where this show got ten seasons, not this stupid universe where it only got one :(

#PredatorBadlands looks like another great entry for the series. And though I thought AvP was horrible, all the chatter about this being either a lead up or another AvP outright sounds good to me. Between #AlienEarth and #Prey, these franchises have been on point lately.

Ugh! #godot, I love ya, but you've gotta do something about exported variables using enums getting "stuck" with stale values when the enum is updated.

It was a slow start, but once the game picks up, #DonkeyKongBananza real starts to shine. As many have said before, the #MarioOdyssey DNA is evident, and that's a good thing. But that's not to say that DKB doesn't stand on it's own merits - it does. This is the launch title I was waiting for!

That's right, Kim Reynolds. Regulation couldn't possibly help with Iowa's water quality problems. Why would it help to have gurard rails around an industry that's become too corporate to care about who it hurts? 😡

Reynolds says regulation is 'hardly ever the answer' and isn't for water's nitrate issue
Amid central Iowa’s lawn-watering ban, Gov. Reynolds said regulating the agriculture industry is not the answer to Iowa’s drinking-water pollution.
