Saw a post somewhere about how practice is only boring if you're thinking about something else. When you are focused on the actual activity practice is easy. I think this is why I am having trouble getting a regular exercise routine going.

The hardest muscle to train is your brain.

'Tis the season for spooky stories! I had a great time talking about why scary stories matter with some of my fellow spooky middle grade authors on the SCBWI blog. Check it out! scbwi.blogspot.com/2025/10/the-...

Really nice summary by @angelp.bsky.social and @boofla.bsky.social about the work we've been doing to support #arm64 builds for #bioconda and #Nextflow over at @nf-co.re and @seqera.io

It feels like we're nearing the tipping point, what's not to love about greener more efficient computation? 🌱🍏

I normally cringe at hearing my own voice but the is one came out pretty good!

Thanks! But all the credit goes to the @nf-core community!

This also sets up an expectation that Democrats bear a responsibility in keeping the government open and lets the congressional GOP off the hook. So pathetic

Many media outlets hid the full truth of Trump -- his background in organized crime, his Epstein ties -- out of fear, only to be obliterated by him in the end. Had they not self-censored then, they might not be state-censored now. When you hide the truth, you face the consequences.

Hot take: freemium software deliberately doesn't fix the rough edges of the core product or improve documentation if the main dev stands to benefit from support contracts or running the default platform. Zero incentive to raise the bar.

Unrelated, worked with Ray a lot this week.

The dream: AI boosts productivity so much we all get 4-day workweeks.

The reality: AI productivity gains are an excuse for companies to cut staff or ask why you need a hire at all. No one’s handing out Fridays off because your job got easier, just more pressure to justify your existence
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says AI will 'probably' bring 4-day work weeks: 'Every industrial revolution leads to some change in social behavior'
"I have to admit that I'm afraid to say that we are going to be busier in the future than now," Huang said in an interview on Fox Business Network.

Having said that, the bot created the error in the first place. So is it better to just keep relying on the bot for coding AND debugging or adopt a more fine grained change request, review, deploy workflow? 🧐

In any case the blog should be a pretty neat one.

Turns out the user data was explicitly setting the ECS cluster ID, something which I never would’ve done and hence was not looking for as a source of error. Couple of hours of manual debugging wasted.

Update: the infrastructure and example deployed just fine but the instances would not join the ECS cluster and I could not figure out why until I asked the chatbot for possible reasons.

I just did some vibe coding for the first time using Q CLI. Gotta say this is a nice way to make quick prototypes (which is 99% of what I do).

BUT I still think you have to have a good understanding of the underlying tech you're trying to build and how to shape what you want to happen.

I think you need to go bigger. Have the AI do the voting and then take in bets from users to see which way the AI will vote.

Presumably SO was a lot of the training material source 🤖

Also review before deploy is NOT OPTIONAL.

But honestly this stuff is transformative.
