I'm obliged for the nod.

The "Penrose Effect" seems to be a real thing - hypothesised in the 1930s and re-tested in the last decade or so:

Where you reduce your inpatient psychiatric provision, you'll see a correlated rise within 10yrs in prisons of seriously mentally ill prisoners.

Manchester City play a game of football today. Most of us will be watching. Which makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is why so few care about City’s owner playing an active role in a genocide so gruesome it can be seen from space. By @barneyronay.bsky.social

Silence over Sudan: why do Manchester City’s owners get away with so much?
Two midweek matches in England had a backdrop of war and geopolitics, but only one drew large protests

On Friday, the coroner ruled that gambling disorder caused Lee Adams’ death.

Virgin Games failed to act on warning signs while other gambling companies blocked him.

Instead, they kept sending him offers and incentives.

628 bets in 72 minutes, then Lee killed himself. No one stopped him
After an inquest into the death of Lee Adams, 36, his family is calling for greater regulation of addictive online gambling

I'd be extremely happy if he was just used sparingly from now on, super sub or the odd low block game. But we can't be starting him. We need to build with Martinez De Ligt and Yoro after the int'l break and stick with that
I get some people love him, and I'm trying to be very restrained since Anfield 😍 but we will never ever ever play well, other than a deep low block parking the bus when needed, when Maguire starts. I'm sorry but it's been years and the outcome is the same. The team has to play a certain way with him

So fun that I can’t believe anything I see on the internet is real anymore. What a great future. Good job rich guys.

I think some United fans need a bit of a reality check. The same ones who 6 weeks ago were saying Amorim’s system is crap and he has to go, now apparently expect us to win every week. Teams simply don’t go from bad to unbeatable in that timeframe. Especially one without a functioning midfield.
Being disappointed and frustrated at not winning games is so much better than being disappointed and frustrated at constantly losing games, tbh. We're building something
This is why we all need to double down on protecting our young talented players

Sesko, Dorgu, Yoro, etc
Cunts 😡
United hit a bit of form so we get a #motd hatchet job on Sesko. Twats.
It's genuinely incredible. The absolute state of the place, the absolute state of the West. Being eaten alive by the ultra rich who control it all
Shoot on sight buddy, be not afraid
I'm definitely Team Sesko but he really needs to start being a tad quicker and more ruthless in his actions. Will make all the difference to him and the team if he changes his approach slightly. Don't care if he shanks a few as a result, it's for the greater good
I think sloppy passing is the thing that drives me most crazy, it'll have me screaming at the players/ TV more than anything else
Yep, fair points
I think luck evens out in the long run.

What should be discussed more is how we weren’t really prepared for the start of the season. Only Cuhna was match fit from our summer signings. We had to use Bayindir for 6 matches (or 16% of the season). How many points did that cost us?
Pass the ball better, challenge properly, and close down crosses. All things Ruben will be hammering into them, but it takes time
The team and squad is far from perfect, but we're getting better. Not every slightly negative result requires mass hysteria. We haven't beaten Spurs since 2022, but we should have today if the players would stop inviting pressure on ourselves with sloppy passes and half arsed attempts at tackles
Doesn't change the fact they got a massive deflection to score with the first shot I can remember them having. That's bad luck by any barometer
Still a deflection on the first goal. These things go against us lots
If we weren't the unluckiest team on the planet we'd be on about 28 points by now whilst still being a massive work in progress
I mean if he left out the last two words I wouldn't even have commented...
