This month I'm highlighting some of my favorite scary and creepy games that need more attention. I wouldn't call Vampire Therapist scary (unless you have a particular mindset and are afraid of being truly known and perceived by another person...) but it fits the Halloween vibe perfectly.

It's officially spooky season, but what if you want a little guidance to ease you into it? Like a therapist, maybe. Or a therapist who happens to bring their own holiday season flair by coincidentally being a vampire. But where in the indie game could we find something like a vampire therapist?

I am a huge fan of all things horror, from brooding and creepy to extreme gore that borders on parody, but sometimes during Halloween month, you have to ea

I finished a couple-book series a little bit ago, Mastering the Art of French Murder, which was fun if a little fast and loose with the details. Julia Child is a secondary character, it's set late 40s-early 50s. Read and did not listen, so I can't swear to audiobook quality.

we're trying to do a thing where we highlight more niche games (preferably indies, but who can define THAT anymore). this week we were obsessed with Fat Bear Week, which had us thinking Bear and Breakfast, AND it's 55% off for the steam sale, so it's perfect.

just ate almost the whole container of kinda shitty tasteless yogurt before realizing it was fruit on the bottom, so that's how we're rolling today I guess.

I think of this iconic moment a lot. I hope this king is doing well.

I, uh, finished it? Like I got to "the end" and the game was like "you're done bye" and force quit? But also there were a ton of random environmental puzzles on the plinths I know I hadn't finished up, but since it told me I'm done, I uninstalled. Fuck that game.

mine was perler bead pipe cleaner snakes (or bracelets or snowflakes or hearts or...). rimmed cookie sheet. When they were really assy, watercolor marker + coffee filter, then water from a dropper (for younger toddlers this can fail HARD, 'put it back', but making a water mess always won for mine).

It is Wednesday my dudes (and it looks like I need to make alternate dinner plans)
A green frog sleeps on a pepper in the garden. The pepper is almost ripe.

isn't it interesting how every autism trigger boogeyman is attributed to things a parent can choose to do, as opposed to systemic causes an individual can't control but can be controlled by regulations or supports like pollution, pesticide/herbicide use, food access, communicable disease, etc

The science on Tylenol and autism isn't clear, despite President Trump's claims. Here's what parents need to know to make their own decisions about acetaminophen.
When it comes to Tylenol, what are parents to do?

I'm not the biggest makeup girly, but that seems like a lot of eye product to choose to wear. I wreck my undereye concealer at funerals, let alone even waterproof or tubing mascara.

I can understand that if you like this exact type of puzzle, this game would be fun as hell. I'd probably be enjoying myself if it was anagrams. And some of the environmental stuff is neat, where tree branches guide you to the answer or whatever. But it's still the same damn puzzle.

If you say "I like puzzles" people immediately tell you to play The Witness. Unfortunately, instead of multiple different puzzles, the game wants you to solve this one puzzle like 500 times in a row.
Screenshot from video game The Witness. A gray line snakes through a black grid. There are several different colors and shapes of symbols on the grid.
