Someone talking about Tim Minchin reminded me how misunderstood Matlida often is. It's Carrie with more books. It's a revenge fantasy. It embraces the cruelty of children in response to cruelty TO children. And that's why it's great. A power fantasy where you can be as much of a dick as adults are.
