We're making progress on education in Knowsley because of the work of organisations like @brilliantclub.bsky.social & Knowsley Council, but too few of our young people move into higher learning. Today I asked the Secretary of State if she would meet with me to discuss breaking down the barriers.
Out & about doorknocking in Kirkby this morning with Labour Knowsley Councilors.
Lovely to speak to residents as always.
Met with Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds MP to discuss the Hillsborough Law. I’m made up it’s been laid before Parliament.

We spoke about pushing it through at pace and ensuring it’s strengthened, not watered down – so the truth can never be hidden by the state again.
Were you (or your child) born between 1 Sept 2002 & 2 Jan 2011? You could have a Child Trust Fund worth up to £2,200 waiting to be claimed. £1.5bn is still unclaimed, some of it could be yours.

Let’s make sure Knowsley gets what it’s owed.
I’ll be holding a drop-in surgery at Kirkby Morrisons on Friday 24th October from 3pm to 5pm, and I’d love to meet you. No need to book, just come along and speak to me in person. Friday 24th October, 3pm – 5pm, Kirkby Morrisons. Looking forward to seeing you there!
The Labour government’s “Plan for Neighbourhoods” means we have nearly £20 million to do up Kirkby and the Townie. Let me know your priorities and how you think that money can be well spent. Head to the in-person drop ins or complete the survey online here: www.knowsley.gov.uk/council...
The Tempest at Shakespeare North Playhouse is genuinely brilliant. Everyone should go and see it.

Chapeau to The HandleBards.
As a music fan and a DJ in Liverpool’s 90s club scene, I know firsthand how vital our venues are.

Not just for music and culture, but for jobs, creativity, and local economies.

I was interviewed by @itvnews.bsky.social about the voluntary levy for grassroots venues and government support.
Labour are kickstarting plans to open 3,000 school-based nurseries to make childcare more accessible and affordable - just another way we’re delivering for working families.

Thank you to everyone who got in touch about the 12 and 13 bus services in Stockbridge Village.

I’m pleased to share that both services will be reintroduced from tonight. Your feedback made a real difference in getting this resolved.
Great to visit Abbey Group partnered with Saab, in Knowsley, to make camouflage systems for British Army vehicles. Inspiring to see a entire skilled all-women workforce leading in manufacturing & innovation - a brilliant example of British talent and partnership in action.
The Government has officially recognised the State of Palestine, a long-overdue step and a manifesto commitment delivered. While this will not immediately end the man-made humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, it is an important step toward a two-state solution, peace, and an end to the occupation.
🌹 Absolutely great turnout today. Picked up casework, campaigned on the Simonswood Stink and had lovely chats with ressies.

🌹 People were made up to see their MP & Cllrs knocking round.

🌹 Thanks loads to @liverpoollabour.bsky.social for coming to join Knowsley Labour today.
This morning more than 30 Labour MPs from Merseyside and the West Midlands have written to the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Peter Kyle, calling for government support for companies and workers in the Jaguar Land Rover supply chain during the shutdown.

Today is a momentous step towards justice.

The Hillsborough Law has finally been laid in Parliament.

This must not be another false start.

I asked the Deputy PM to promise me it will be THE Hillsborough Law, that it will emerge from Parliament stronger - NOT weaker - and finally deliver #JFT97.
Nick Davies’ book Hack Attack is out today.

It reveals Murdoch’s cover-up: millions of emails deleted - essential evidence of phone hacking.

I raised the issue of the two-tier justice system in Parliament, where oligarchs act with impunity, dodge scrutiny, and show contempt for the law.
Families have been campaigning for the Hillsborough Law, with the duty of candour at its heart, for 36 years.

Today I again pressed the Government to set out when it will finally bring it forward, to honour the promises made to all the victims of state cover-ups and finally deliver #JFT97.
Back in Parliament after a boss summer in Knowsley.

Made up that today we've delivered on our pledge to fund childcare for 30 hours a week – saving parents £7,500 a year per child, and putting more money in the pockets of people Knowsley.

Three years ago, 9-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel was tragically taken from her family.

Today I’m thinking of Olivia, and of her incredible mum Cheryl, whose courage in campaigning for Olivia’s Law is inspiring. I'm proud to stand with Cheryl and her family.

Rest in peace Liv 💜🦋

VJ Day marked the end of the Second World War.

In Huyton, we welcomed home Far East Prisoners of War, giving them rest after years of captivity before they returned to their families.

We honour their courage and remember those who never came home.

Lest we forget.
