For children, the impact is transformative. Scrapping the two-child benefit cap will lift hundreds of thousands of kids out of poverty—3,500 in Knowsley alone, which I have been fighting for.

Work will pay more too. The National Living Wage rises to £12.71, with younger workers seeing a pay increase as well. Labour introduced the National Minimum Wage in 1998 because no one should be trapped in poverty by their job—and this Budget continues that fight.

For families, the relief is real: energy bills are falling by £150 a year, rail fares are frozen, bus fares are capped, and prescription costs are frozen. I hear every day from people in Knowsley struggling—these changes will make a tangible difference.

It’s about fairness, opportunity, and putting working people first. By asking the wealthiest to contribute more, while shielding ordinary families from extra taxes, this Government is standing up for those who do the hard work that keeps our country going.
