1.) How your brain works
2.) Why Academia ignores that
3.) How to weaponise the difference

Writing heals the same way surgery does. Through controlled violence and hoping you don't bleed out (with the added benefit of actually producing a paper).

Autistic students know what works—research proves it—but universities refuse, hiding behind cost and standardisation. Access is treated as liability. We must build the joyful, human colleges the system won’t.

Me: I need quiet to focus
Them: Here's an open office! And fluorescent bulbs that scream 24/7!
Me: I need predictable schedules
Them: Surprise meeting for 3 hours where we do small talk and don't make any useful decisions!
Me: Fuck this shit, I quit.

The passive approach of general DEI guidelines places the entire burden of education and advocacy on the marginalised individual.
This is colonialism.
DO NOT leave the most vulnerable members of your community to fend for themselves!

Decolonize scientific institutions, don’t just diversify them
Indigenous scholars set out eight steps to stop marginalization in academia and to enable a shared Indigenous agenda in science.

True inclusion requires moving beyond passive non-discrimination to a proactive strategy that explicitly educates the entire community and builds tailored support mechanisms. Relying on generic DEI statements leaves the most vulnerable members of the community to fend for themselves. #neurodiversity

General DEI statements fail to create a truly inclusive culture. They signal that discrimination is not allowed, but they do not actively build the understanding and provide the tools necessary to prevent it from happening. #neurodivergent #neurodivergenceInSTEM #actuallyautistic #dei
