James Bond supervillains threaten to blow up the world with their big laser unless you pay them a trillion dollars.

Real American supervillains embed themselves in the economy and threaten to cause a depression unless you subsidize their sex robots and the weird chatbots they use to avoid humans.

Anyway, this is a great book about people at the disregarded bottom of the racial & socioeconomic ladder who still created a rich & vibrant & long-lasting musical culture, without waiting around for some venture capitalist to do it for them.

An incredible technology that was scrapped in favor of streaming to the detriment of…everyone, actually.
I’ve been using a 2007 iPod to listen to music while I work lately and it’s been GREAT, so great that occasionally getting my eardrums exploded by a song I downloaded from Limewire in high school is almost worth it

Can you give this a boost to help some poorly kitties? The Society for Abandoned Animals is where I adopted my cats Merlin & Juno from many years ago.

As I said before, like my colleagues, I see disinformation as a matter of national security—it's time for politicians and decision makers to understand that.

A critical report by the ICDS on disinformation and information operations. I believe it will be of interest to anyone interested in the topic. I will share just one fact: Russia is investing $1.8 billion in propaganda in 2024, while the EU is investing around $25 million to counter it.

if u don't know SWITCHED-ON BACH is insane because the Moog synth is monophonic. meaning every single note of every single chord in every song had to be overdubbed separately. she had to be extremely precise & meticulous to make that album work

Split Enz's gloriously eccentric early years—when they were co-led by Tim Finn and Phil Judd, and very far away from the sharp, succinct pop songwriting of Neil Finn—are collected on the new box set ENZcyclopedia, Volumes 1 & 2. My review:

the great Tatsuya Nakadai has passed; noted as one of the greatest actors in japanese cinema, but easily one of the greatest actors of the 20th century. Period.

his on-screen intensity is off the scale - and he does almost all of it with his eyes

Harakiri is a must-see if you haven't. Amazing. 🥲
