Here's an older picture of the east gate looking north which I think fits Alan's photo, and the modern wall is there, now removed.
antoninewallblues.bsky.social
I think it's the east gate but they've removed the wall behind it now?

When people I don't like ask me about the process of game design, I send them this diagram from Richard Duke's 1974 book Gaming: the Future’s Language
An enormously complicated diagram, the child of several pie-charts that have undergone a process of nuclear fission, largely illegible. A caption at the bottom reads 'Figure 19. The Game Design Process'

I've been looking at Roman tile kilns, and I'm sort of impressed by the one that's just a rough outline that say TILE KILN across it, like some sort of David Shrigley cartoon.
A series of archeological plan drawings of Roman tile kilns, one of which is considerably less detailed than the others.

Sure. I just wouldn't expect anything from HR, especially for staff being shown the door. The things it seemingly advocates and which you point out aren't happening never will in the current system so the article seems a bit disingenuous.
antoninewallblues.bsky.social
Feels like this is a HR person writing to distract from the fact that HR exists to service management & a company/institution's 'strategic goals', not enhance the experience/material conditions of employees unless it directly benefits that company/institution financially in some way.

A bit of love for Nottingham Castle. In all the years I lived there, I only visited for the beer festival and to see a series of Leonardo da Vinci sketches (which is in itself pretty amazing). The town is weirdly dismissive of the whole place. Must visit the revamp next time I'm down!

I've worked at Nottingham Castle many times. It gets a lot of criticism from tourists & locals for not being a "proper castle". In Mediaeval Mythbusting Blog #7 I looked at why that belief is untrue and offered a defence of the castle:

There's only one sculptor in this relationship, and it's not me.

It's definitely a Shropshire sun pendant kind of a day.

Channelling the Bronze Age as I head into the last couple of months of my (Roman) PhD.
