They absolutely nailed the grape treaders and the carts. They just about finished the bust.... and then the "Vines" key got stuck down. 😳

Just got my official work PPE and now off down the secret passage to my paid government job hiding the evidence for all those ship timbers, swordfights on spiral stairs, and Britain's oldest pub.

Between 1828-9 Samuel Hasell excavated a villa at Pitney #Somerset

Sheds were built to protect the villa but sadly they had gone by 1836 and so had the mosaics 😞

All we have left are lithographs like this one by Hasell of Cadmus thrashing a python*

*don't Google this 😬

Thank you.

Look at this! For the first time since it was found, partially excavated and dispersed in the 1950s, someone has digitally reconstructed the 6th century mosaic from Qasr el-Lebia in Cyrenacia, Libya. 😮🤯

This wonderful Ancient Greek gold coin dates from late 5th-century BCE.

It was issued by the city of Akragas, today’s Agrigento, in Sicily.

The coin features a crab on the reverse, and an eagle standing on a rock, devouring a snake. These symbols were common designs on the coinage of Akragas.

For "reasons" we've been thinking about the Lloyds Bank Turd: the biggest fossilized human poo ever found (it's from Viking York).

It's 8" long and 2" wide. We asked AI what else is that size...

"A large cucumber, a deck of card or a thick smartphone", apparently. 😬
