Dear Physicists and Physics fans,

I would like to encourage you to celebrate #WomenInPhysics Day this Friday, November 7th.

Why November 7th? Because it is the birthday of two of the most impactful women physicists of the 1900's: Marie Curie and Lise Meitner. 🎢 ⚛️ 🧪 👩‍🔬

Stumbled on that ad in San Francisco’s Cow Hollow.

It seems to be dark humor, but it’s nasty

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

My dearest wife,

It is week two of the Siege of Portland, and still these barbarians will not yield to our troops. We have severed the cords of their latte machines but they are making cowboy coffee in their camps, where loud ukulele songs of resistance even now drift in on the breeze.

Fascinating article about Wikipedia in @theverge.com

As an occasional contributor, I’ve been frustrated the moderation process, but it makes sense and it works given that @wikipedia.org could easily go berserk because of the anonymity of its contributors.

We who live in San Francisco have been living under morning and evening fog for many weeks, and those otherwise most beautiful times of day are muffled in gray, the low cloud cover that means there are no direct light, no crisp shadows, no long vistas. It can get dismal.
