What does Trump *think he means* when he says "we have the hottest country anywhere in the world"?

Don't tell me why he's wrong or that he's stupid or crazy, I know all these things. Also no global warming jokes please.

What does he THINK he's saying? What are we SUPPOSED to understand him to […]

This is a really smart analysis of UI design in terms of "how it works," not "how it looks”:

"This sort of design is common in apps like Photos, and especially in “shoebox” apps. Every feature is in its own place, and if you want to use […]

Whoa this new-ish "simple old-school blog theme" from Automattic is great -- will remind you immediately of the once ubiquitous Blogger theme "Minima": https://wordpress.org/themes/bitacora/ #wordpress #blogging

Media Log: The Testament of Ann Lee (Mona Fastvold, 2025)
★★★☆

On 70mm! At times beautiful, but ultimately unconvincing. Aside from that: Josephine Foster is in this movie.

I feel like the federated nature of...erm, the fediverse is difficult to explain, but once understood makes complete sense.

Many people didn't understand how Twitter worked when it was created, either. For instance here's a website that very nicely explains what is seen on Twitter, by whom, and […]

"American Cheese" is awful and a stain on our otherwise faultless, unblemished republic. Monterey Jack is real cheese, is better than American, and originated in California. This should be American Cheese.

One thing that's tough for people who just join the Fediverse, like most of the folks on #theforkiverse , is that there are self-appointed experts who reply to their public posts saying that "the Fediverse" doesn't like that kind of content.

This is untrue. They don't speak for all of us […]

Cute enough. The dog, Sandy — a middle-aged beagle mutt who spends most of the movie sleeping — stole my heart. For a movie that’s so specifically about 80s technology, prominently featuring an original Macintosh displaying […]

The AI chat in #calibre is even worse than I expected? It doesn't consume the context of the book you're discussing, so anything it can answer about the book is based on stuff available in its existing training data.

The best part about the #kanopy streaming UI is that because they aren't in "the Content business," they don't front-load all their categories and lists with their own productions. True editorial freedom.
