It's campaign finance report day! We're getting our first numbers now that we've had a lot of movement in 2026 races.

Only one online so far is @aparnafordc.bsky.social and her numbers are quite something: $29k from DC donors, which means she will easily qualify for the 5x matching funds.

What a night! ✨

First, we stopped by the @dclatinocaucus.bsky.social mixer at La Cosecha to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

Then, we had a house party in Mount Pleasant to meet neighbors and hear what they hope to see from a councilmember. Thank you Irene, Caleb, and Rami for hosting!

Trump está librando una guerra contra los sindicatos y el derecho a organizarse.

En medio del aumento del costo de vida, necesitamos un Consejo que nos haga posible pagar nuestras facturas, ahorrar para la jubilación y disponer de algunos ingresos extra al final de la semana.

Our unemployment insurance is simply not enough to live on. And with federal workers facing mass layoffs and immigrants afraid to go to work, we need to have their backs.

I will work to increase benefits, fix our broken UI system, and ensure striking workers can receive UI.

Trump is waging a war against unions and the right to organize.

As a union member, I know that a strong union can make the difference in being able to make rent and save for retirement, to take time off and afford a vacation, and to get treated fairly on the job.

As we face rising costs of living, we need a Council that will make it possible for us to pay our bills, save for retirement, and still have a little bit extra at the end of the week.

HOLD THE LINE
Budgets are moral documents. Months after gutting our health care and food assistance to enrich billionaires and fund Trump’s secret police, Congressional Republicans continue to show where their morals lie by forcing a government shutdown – all while DC is still reeling from federal layoffs and other devastating cuts.
Facing the possibility of missing out on pay or losing their jobs, federal workers understood the risks of a shutdown better than anyone. But they still bravely called to reject any deal that cuts health care and other basic needs, because they know that a government that abandons its people is already shut down. Let’s come together to support our federal workers and applaud Congressional Democrats for refusing to capitulate to the Trump administration.
Fascism requires our silence and our compliance. We must hold the line.
